Like Mary, I'm in a built up area, but really close to farm land on the edge of Milton Keynes, northern Buckinghamshire, just a stroll away. We too have some lovely mature trees near, at the end of the 'main' road is a beautiful oak and very near it, a copper beech which is huge and a really lovely shape. 

Yes, went into Northamptonshire for our falconry treat, last Friday, vistas of the yellow stuff all round, makes me feel sniffly too in bulk. parts of Northamptonshire are lovely, rolling hills with some great farming land. Pity that too much of it gets used as building land, retiring farmers find it lucrative to sell their land that way now. 

I too used to climb in my yoof (!) including rock climbing, and the Lakes was my favourite part of the world for that, Wales was lovely but wilder and not as rewarding just to look at. 

Last night we went virtually straight from Bletchley to a concert given by Olney Brass in memory of their conductor, great teacher, and lovely man, Alan Jenkin, who sadly died 5 months ago from NHL which had transformed into a virulent version. Alan was almost our daughter's first brass teacher but insisted once she was at Grade 5 level she needed a trombone specialist. It worked! So she was very proud to play a solo, the classic 'Autumn Leaves' and then a duet with the trumpet soloist, 'Time to say Goodbye' which had folk in tears, it was beautiful. A former teacher (also a trombonist) told me how her playing looked simply effortless. High praise! And lovely to see the Church so full, funds were raised for our local hospice. 

A quiet day today, got our whirlwind lass off to her (offstage) gig with CBSO, a chance to get some more gardening done. I just planted a couple of extra runner beans against the trellis that we have the thornless blackberry growing on, and a sunflower that daughter started growing ( from birdseed that had been in the shed for a couple of years, as a joke!) it joins two more!

I'm so jealous of all your lovely vistas,we look out on our estate at the front & a 7 foot fence at the back we're in east Lincolnshire & as George isn't far away in Suffolk he knows how flat & boring it is round here 

Had a boat trip across Windemere years ago then a coach ride back to get a train home,had a grand day out

This is one is taken from the loft room Carol, in the autumn the mist looks like a sea or lake, you can see Riber Castle on the hill opposite!

Yes please can we do Double Dutch? I love skipping with the kids at work, they look a bit shocked when they see us oldies can still skip!
