Yaaaaaaayyyyyyyy we be first posters !!!!!!!! The terrible twosome got there first !!

Just a quick post to everyone to say good morning before we go off to our beds as we been up chatting allllllllll niiiiiiiight loooonnng!

Alchie's thoughts of the day - well Mel, you were so right about me having a sore head as when she got here, out came the inspection gloves. She then told me the house wasn't any where clean enough so she's had me at the bloody housework again! Sat there giving orders she was. To make matters worse, I was then blindfolded and had to ice my own birhday cake while she took pictures! Unbelievable! On the upside though the cake is a gorgeous choccie one (which I'm not sharing!) and I can get the wonderful squeeshy hugs on tap! Being serious, it's fantastic having Helen here and the best birthday pressie ever!

The dolls thoughts of the day - well girls got here and i tell you my white gloves didnt stay white for long gosh did think about booking in to local hotel but no i gave instructions on how to get the house up to scratch and after some time as there were wine breaks many of them, we got there. i have to say that before i came i slaved over a hot stove baking the bestest birthday cake ever even iced it with yummy fudge and put it in a tin, i protected it on the long journey to keep it safe only to arrive and for the alchie to turn the tin upside down (think she had had a few before i got here) hee hee. I tell you that she is keeping that cake under lock and key and shouting at any 1 who goes near. seriously peeps we is having an ab fab time house is lovely real hugs are just the best we have laughed sooooooo much and chatted loads - now we have the whole day to do it again - yippee - altho i mustnt forget our sam is getting old now and must rest as well - hee hee.

We hope everyone is having a good weekend (but not as good as ours!) and we love you all loads.

    Double big squeeshy hugs.

    Helen and Sam XX

    Dearest Bern,

Easy Tiger, just hold on one cotton picking minute about the Father's Day stuff !

As I said to Dawn a little while ago, you still have a Father, he just resides at a different address, so you celebrate his wonderfullness on Fathering Sunday with as much gusto as you can muster.

May I suggest making a fabulous card yourself, instead of the crappy beer / boat / fishing / football rhyming things that they sell. Get yourself a lovely bottle, place card inside and release your message in a bottle in a place of your choosing.

Alternatively, if you want to send Dad a letter you could place this in a helium balloon. You need to ask the shop to high float the balloon, give it a few minutes to dry, roll your letter up and put into the balloon before it is inflated.

Another fabulous idea ( did I tell you I was a genius? ), is to buy an amazing rocket firework, and tie your letter or card to that before you send it up.

Actually, I think I might do a brainiac test, because I'm wondering if it's possible to tie a latex helium balloon to a rocket, it would have to be a really long string, so that the helium is not ignited until the rocket has taken it up, errrrrmmmmmm. I think I missed my calling, I should have been a blue peter, or 'how' presenter !!!!!!!

Anyhooo what I'm trying to say is that Fathers Day will happen regardless, so face it head on with bravery, and make it another special day to celebrate your day, while sticking two fingers up to this disease at the same time.

My Mum's birthday and Mothers day fell on the same day this year. I had left her cards and presents downstairs for the morning. By the time she got up a decision was made to take her into the hospice to get a few things sorted. Things were all a bit manic, and as you know Mum passed three weeks later.

The day after she died I went to Mum and Dad's house, the first time in three weeks, and there were the cards and presents unopened. I nearly had a breakdown thinking that she had never got her last birthday or mothers day card from me. I knew I couldn't leave it like that, so I made sure she got them in my own way, and I'm so pleased that I did.

Any little thing that we can do to ease the pain is a small victory against this disease. It takes so much, but I won't let it take everything.

    all my love

    Melanie X
