All of us on here get both good and bad news, i wanted to start a thread for all types of news, for everyone to post their news.....
  • Mo, 'google' 'Bletchley Park' or 'Codes and cyphers', 'Alan Turing' or 'Tony Sale', and you'll get onto one of the sites to tell you all about it, it was the decoding centre for WW2 in the UK which shortened the war by about 2 years.

    It still remained top secret (although most work decamped to GCHQ in Cheltenham) after the war as the 'Cold War' developed, and is still becoming better known, but money for the rescue of its war time wooden huts just isn't coming, they have applied for lottery funding but still need many millions. Its run by a small team with lots of volunteers.

    'punters'=paying public!

    love and hugs to all who read my drivel

    Helen if that is the potted version of your tour you've 'cracked it'!!!!  You just need to pad it out a bit so that folk don't lose interest too soon.........I did a stint as a custodian/guide at a local historical site a few summers ago and really enjoyed it.... and met so many interesting people........YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! xxxx

  • Dot, tonight after the meeting, we collected our formal Induction plans........argh! I will take AGES to get up to speed!!!!!!!! And then we have to get every section signed off, and then take our mentor on 'the tour' to get that signed off too! THEN we will be guides!

    Hi Helen - It will get easier for you......honest!!!  Do you have to follow a script or can you 'ad-lib'  - as long as you get all the facts in???  Good luck with it - as i said before - you can do it!!!!!!

    How is Caz doing  - is she able to exercise and practise now???  The BIG DAY is not too far away now........

    Love and hugs  Dot xxxx

    Wow, so brave. Being a 'tour guide'. I have every admiration for you. Good luck x x x x

  • Well, Caz now has a solo to work up, she says it looks hard, so I guess she is by now well in practise at last. She has said little about her skin so at a guess it has at last just about settled. We are all looking forward to a week today with the CD launch, have a few friends going, her former teacher unfortunately can't manage it but one of her primary school friends is going! They have kept in touch over all those years!

    BP tour? well, we have to follow most of the facts in the script but need to start our own style, there is so much to cover, apart from taking 'the walk' there is enough to keep me talking on my feet for over an hour, and the walking doesn't take long! Obviously have to get the humour going straight away, so folk stay 'with you'.....will now need to begin to learn all the fire escapes, extinguishers and so on, in every part of the public areas....and get them 'signed off'. I foresee lots of visits.....

    love and hugs to you all

    Helen, my cd has arrived this morning. I struggled to get it out of the shrinkwrap but am now able to enjoy the sounds. It is playing as I write. How lovely. I love the picture in the booklet inside of your beautiful Carol. It does her more justice than the cover version. what a beautiful young lady. I wish her all the very best for the forthcoming event.  Aww, When you wish upon a star. My dear departed mum's favourite. Tears.

    You must be so proud of her achievemnets both musically and personally. Give yourself a pat on the back too for helping her to achieve all these things.

    Love and angel hugs x x x Patricia x x x

  • Yes, I am thrilled and proud, of our son, as well, if you listen to track 8 it's just the two of them......not bad piano playing for a cellist!

    It makes all the worry ease off for a bit......

    my love and hugs to you all
