Well, its been a tough few days......bless the lass, her skin has begun to flake madly and the swelling varies but isn't too good on her face. I suggested that since the Doc from Christie hadn't phoned her back, she ring the 'hot number' again last night. I then went to my books and other info and double checked about Piriton.......it looks as if she was en route for an allergic dermatitis from that!!!!! So I rang her back, before they had a chance to ring from the Christie and suggested she told them that too. In the end, they sent her to A&E with the suggestion that a jab of hydrocortisone was an option. The Doc there was lovely and listened to her, and took a careful look, said to drop the Piriton, try a day without anything, but gave her a different prescription in case the itching returned.
It is now getting VERY hard to find anything to moisturise her skin without causing a reaction, E45? rubbish, Aqueous? now causing redness! so in desperation I suggested olive oil, and then went to ask my friendly local pharmacist, who agreed! but also came up with some stuff to get her GP to prescribe in trial form, to try somewhere it won't show!
Yes, this was a trial drug, Basiliximab, which has so far done well on her cancer, but it seems at the risk of upsetting an already sensitive skin! Ah well.......onward and upward.......!
My love and hugs to you all who read my drivel!

Dearest Helen - what you write is not drivel............I find it fascinating to be an 'observer' of Caz's trial. And I don't mean that in any kind of voyeuristic way - but as one whose hubby has already said that if/when he needs treatment again he would be prepared to help with trials if found suitable!!!! But your poor girl is really going through it with the side effects...... but I hope that if this treatment gets the go-ahead to be used (with adjustments maybe?) then others will appreciate what she has already suffered on their behalf.......Hope that all makes sense??? I can only say that she - and you too- have my utmost admiration - so very brave.......... and talented too!!!!!!
My love and ((((((((((((((big hugs)))))))))))))))) to you both - not forgetting your menfolk too.............

Awww, thanks, Dot, she is obviously worried about looking good in 4 weeks time for the CD launch, too, bless her, as she is in the public eye, so to speak, she does feel the need to look her best, we can only hope that something helps! I was wondering if she is reacting with the preservative which is often alcohol based, in all the stuff over the counter. The pharmacist agreed that was now possible, so thats why she agreed about the olive oil!
My love and hugs to you all

Dot, surprisingly, many baby products are harsher than others! And we also have the worry that it might be the preservative element that is also causing trouble, which of course have to be in baby products too. That's why i think olive oil might be the better bet too.

Well, at least I haven't been called to go again this week, am beginning to catch up on sleep, mind you, last night was VERY late, finally dropped off after the 3 am news......yes, they do still read the news on the radio at that time, lol!
and the cleaning has been done again, not that it was too bad, but it did need a thorough go!
my love and hugs to you all.....thank you, too, all of you, for boosting me when I could so easily just have sat and bawled!
Moomy
