Hello everyone!
My names Ellie and i’m 20 years old and i don’t have anyone to talk to about the situation i’m in other than my partner of course and my parents but i’m really struggling at the moment with my partners cancer due to her last appointment they want to discuss radio therapy to see whether it’s an option to go ahead with or not, she has ganglioneuroblastoma and it is wrapped around her heart and has had it since she was little but i'm scared, i'm worried, i'm angry at the world i just want someone to talk to really about it as i’m struggling, I have recently started taking anti depressants and they do seem to be working but i do have on and off days where i feel sad and don’t want to put pressure on anyone, does anybody have any reccomendations on what to do to keep myself occupied during this time her appointments next week. I hope this is okay to share
Hi Ellie Elliegrace26 and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but I am sorry to hear about your partners diagnosis.
Navigating this journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but talking with and getting support from people who have walked or are walking the ‘exact same' treatment journey, be it as a patient or caregiver can help a lot.
This New to Community area is like our reception desk where we try and link you in with the best areas in the community.
As you see the community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) and I can see you have joined and put up a post in our…Family and Friends support group.
You may also want to look at our Carers only support groups where you may connect with a wide range of members navigating the exact same support challenges.
It is an emotional time supporting family so you might find this Macmillan information your feelings when someone has cancer helpful as well as this link getting help with your emotions.
As always the Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits and financial guidance or just a listening ear.
Talking to people ‘face to face’ can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.
((hugs))
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
