I have been visiting a Maggie’s Centre but didn’t want to admit to private treatment so told them I was under the NHS oncologist. I felt embarrassed at the time that I was doing private treatment. Is there any way they would look this up and find out? I need their support so badly but will they check with the oncologist name I gave and realise I didn’t tell the truth? Is it standard practise for them to store the name of your oncolgisy and check you’ve met the nursing team on fiel! They phoned to verify my phone number, DOB and who I see and whether I have contact with nursing staff and I panicked. I need them during this cancer journey! Please help!
Oh that’s interesting they didn’t ask you for consultants names. I’m not sure why they asked me? That panics me!
im so sorry to hear you had three types of cancer. One is bad enough!
thank you again!
It’s just part of their information gathering-not something they are going to use to “spy” on you. Please try to be reassured by our replies to you-they just want to help support you in the best way possible, and are bound by confidentiality laws that would not allow them to approach any consultant to obtain information about you or any other patient.
Sarah xx
