I have returned from the doctor This thing is stage 1 papillary thyroid carcinoma.
I’m scared. I got a naysayer telling me to do my homework first. They had surgery and are now disabled. They have a permanent type of hypothyroidism. But i also think if they just removed the cancer and still keep thyroid in, the cancer could still survive and hide in what is left of my thyroid. Surgery or not, I will have some long lasting effect.
Im scared and would like support and advice.
Hello Ian156,
A warm welcome to the Macmillan online community, although I am very sorry you have the need to join.
The community comprises numerous cancer-specific groups and I would like to suggest you join the thyroid cancer forum and repost your entry there. I'm sure you will soon receive responses from others who are in a similar position who can offer advice and support that you need.
I have placed a link below to take you there.
With my best wishes, Derek.
