New port

I live on my own and this morning I had a port fitted and just would appreciate some reassurance! I was surprisingly given no aftercare advice, but luckily I have paracetamol in the house. It's just begun getting sore and I've just taken a paracetamol. I have looked it up on Macmillan fact sheet that said what to do and to look out for, which is SO helpful; thank Blush you! I just would like someone to reassure me!

  • Hi

You have had an invasive procedure so it is bound to be sore for a little while. Paracetamol should help. Just watch out for signs of infection and seek help if you are concerned (dial 111).  My own settled down very easily.
