Hi Diddly and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I had a lumpectomy followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. My timeline was that I saw an oncologist about 5 weeks after I'd had surgery when chemo and radiotherapy were discussed. Chemo started 4 weeks later and radiotherapy about a month after the chemo finished.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
If you're struggling to sleep and want to chat then pop along to the awake and up all night thread where you're almost guaranteed to find someone else who is awake and will be happy to chat.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi there. I’m just at home half way through chemo for gastric cancer. All very uncertain. I tend to sleep ok for the first part but am waking at 3 or 4 and lying there. Being in the dark and quiet can be challenging can’t it as it can be thinking about the future or results or… But I tend to get up and get a tea. I’m also on 5mg of Olanzapine which seems to really help with sleep, calm, and appetite. Take care Diddly. Let’s chat a bit more if u like. Now I’ve given up my full time job I’ve got time on my hands!!!
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
