Was it cancer if I didn’t need treatment?

  1. On the 8th January I was diagnosed with kidney cancer and informed they would remove my left kidney. The operation should of been 6 weeks from the 8th but four days later I was told to come in on the 15th January for it.

As you can imagine my life was turned upside in a space of a few days. Trying to sort out work, appointments I had to cancel, telling my family etc. I had so much to do before the operation. Even on the day of the operation I was on a high as I hadn’t stopped doing things my mind was in over drive

Six weeks later I was given the all clear and got told I didn’t need treatment. Which I will always be thankful for.

It’s nearly 5 months later and I caught seem to get over it. I have daily pain in my left side and all the doctors say it will get better. My fatigue is still horrendous and the doctors haven’t suggested anything to help me. Worst of all my work just say I haven’t got cancer anymore why am I still moaning about pain/fatigue

Someone actually said you sure it was cancer if I didn’t need treatment

Is it just me ?  Does anyone else have a familar situation?
it’s really getting me down

  • I had a rare cancer and had part of my stomach removed to remove the tumour. I didn't receive any further treatment but will continue to receive follow up scans and hospital appointments as I have been classed high risk that my cancer may return. I still feel down and struggle to handle what I went through.

Although you did not need treatment it doesn't invalidate your experience. It can be lonely when others think that you're fine and just get on with it.

You went through a traumatic event and you did receive a cancer diagnosis do not let any invalidate your journey and emotional healthbeing Be kind to yourself.
