After my first immunotherapy session for stage 3c melanoma with satellites. I have developed immunotherapy induced type 1 diabetes and I’m currently in hospital getting stable and starting on insulin. As of Cancer and immunotherapy we’re not enough to deal with I now have to try and cope with this. Is anyone dealing with this?

  • Hi

I’m sorry to hear you are in hospital. You might be more likely to get some replies if you post in the melanoma group to connect with others who might have had this happen.

This chat group is more for general chat about different things and a lot of members will just post in groups related to their own cancer experiences.

There may be people who can reply here, but posting in the melanoma group will widen the number of people who will see your post.

    Sarah xx

  • Hi

I had 5 months on Pembrolizumab for metastatic TNBC and was left with kidney, thyroid and lung damage, but also the benefit of my cancer in remission. Diabetes was one of the many things I was warned about and whilst the treatment left me pre-diabetic, I have thankfully remained stable. I am sorry you have experienced this. These immunotherapy drugs can be a bit of a lottery unfortunately. Hopefully you will find you can manage the additional complications this brings to your life.
