Hi all,
I was diagnosed with lower GI bowel cancer at the end of January 2026. I had surgery 4 weeks ago to remove the tumour. They took out 26 lymph nodes and 13 came back positive for cancer.
I was treated at UCLH in London because I was living in Hertfordshire at the time. We’ve since moved to Shrewsbury and I’ve asked to transfer my care to Shrewsbury/RSH for chemotherapy, as I don’t think travelling back and forth to London while on chemo would be sensible.
Is anyone else on this forum currently having chemo in Shrewsbury? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences with the oncology team/haematology day unit at RSH - waiting times, parking, how you’ve found the support, etc.
Thanks so much,
Nikki
Hello Nikki
I am Brian one of the Community Champions here on the Community. I noticed your post had gone unanswered so I set myself a challenge to find you some answers.
* I searched the Community and can only find two active members who confirmed they have had Chemotherapy at Shrewsbury and here's link to their post:
RE: Scared (See Community Member Project 301230)
Week 1 complete... upwards and onwards... (See Community Member Wavedancer)
There may well be others who have not posted or who haven't said where they had their treatment.
* Are you aware we have a dedicated Bowel Cancer group on the group - here's the link you need to join the group:
Bowel (colon and rectal) cancer forum
Once you click on the link and the page opens up - click on "join" on the black banner at the bottom of the page. Once you have joined the group you can introduce yourself in the "New Here - Say Hello" section.
I hope the above helps.
If you need any help in navigation the Community please do get back to me.
Best wishes - Brian.
