Hi everyone,
I’m really struggling at the moment and just looking for some reassurance or if anyone has been through something similar.
I am 29 years old and recently found a small lump in my breast (around pea-sized). It feels soft, quite squidgy, and moves around under my fingers - almost like it slips away when I press it. My GP examined me and said it’s “likely benign”, but has still referred me to the breast clinic on the fast-track pathway. I received my appointment today and it’s Sat 28th March so just over a week away.
Since then, I feel like my anxiety has completely taken over. My breasts have become really sore, achy and sensitive (especially around the nipples), which I think might be hormonal, but it’s making me panic even more.
I keep reading stories online of people saying they had soft or mobile lumps that turned out to be cancer, and I can’t stop thinking “what if that’s me?”. I’m terrified about what it could mean for my future, especially around having children.
I know I’m probably overthinking, but I can’t seem to switch my brain off. Has anyone had something similar that turned out to be benign? Or any advice on how to cope with the waiting?
Thank you so much for reading
Hi Sausagedogmum123 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I know how horrible waiting for tests and results can be.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have been in the same position as you.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
Sending virtual ((hugs))
