I suffer chronic nausea and difficulty eating food.  The nausea makes me feel unwell all of the time.  I have been diagnosed with kidney cancer on the right side.  Prescription drugs for the nausea don’t seem to have much effect, I feel I am in a lonely place right now.  Nothing seems to give me relief.

  • So sorry to hear you feel unwell, hang on in there stay strong it will pass. Remember your not alone. I had my first cycle of chemotherapy and immunotherapy yesterday,  I feel good for now but I know I have bad days ahead, im just getting things done around the house just little jobs before my bad days. How far are you with your treatment ?

  • Hi  and welcome to the chat group.

I’m sorry to read you are struggling with nausea and feeling so unwell. I’d recommend speaking to your CNS (cancer nurse specialist) to let them know you don’t feel your anti nausea drugs are working.

It is possible that they could arrange for different drugs to be prescribed for you. I know when I didn’t get on with a particular anti nausea med I got it changed to another one which worked much better for me. Please don’t suffer in silence.

As you’ve been diagnosed with kidney cancer, you may like to join the kidney cancer group and post there to see how others have managed.

  • Thank you so much for your advice, encouragement and kind thoughts SarahH21.  I’m seeing my GP and a cancer consultant this week so I’m hopeful my nausea can get sorted, it has been so distressing trying to function normally whilst I wait for a treatment plan from the experts for my kidney and prostate cancers.

  • Hi again

That’s good you’re seeing your gp and consultant this week. Hopefully they’ll be able to get this nausea sorted out for you. I’m sorry to hear you also have prostate cancer. It’s all a lot to deal with.

I’ll give you a link to the prostate cancer support forum, which is a very active and helpful group you can join if you feel if you’d like to.
