Hello again folks ,

it’s been a long time since talking to you all at night and gaining so much help from you all .

just bring you up to date , I had to have radiotherapy after a skin graft on my face , because they didn’t get the margins they wanted.

i was extremely worried and frightened about this , however just wanted to say IT DOESNT HURT AT ALL , it’s just in the mind ,the staff at mount Vernon were lovely and fingers crossed all went well .

after effects are of course still going on soreness and redness getting bigger by the day , but bareably.

im trying to get some help with this as I don’t have a nurse allocated to me ( low priority) which I fully understand but just want a bit of help so going to try nurses on here tomorrow.

i just wanted to say a bit thank you to you all .

  • Hi Gill

I remember how worried you were thinking about radiotherapy, but it’s lovely to get an update from you to say you’ve managed to have it done,

I think the fear about radiotherapy can be very different to the reality, so well done! It’s a pity you haven’t been allocated a skin cancer specialist nurse, but you can ask the nurses in the community here

    Ask A Nurse

They do not have access to your nhs records, so cannot give specific advice for your own situation, but can give general advice. Often radiotherapy can have some side effects on the area treated, but hopefully these will get better as you recover.

I hope you’ll let us know how things go, and I’m pleased you’ve found it helpful to be part of the community.

    Sarah xx
