Hi everyone, I havnt been on for a while, felt pretty rubbish. Rang the bell on chemotherapy and radiotherapy last Friday. Chemo (Cisplatin) took its toll, had significant hearing loss which is permanent. On the bright side audiology have given me some cute little hearing aids and ive blinged them up . Had first Brachy today. I had an open mind, listened to other people's experiences. My experience was a positive one, from the moment I went in , I was put at ease. I meditated and gave myself Reiki during waiting times. I honestly didn't feel a thing getting them in and out. As i say this is my experience, I know others may experience differently. I hadn't had a general anaesthetic before, thst went ok. The gas and air when taking the rods and catheter out was so effective, spaced and didn't feel a thing.
I hope everyone is in a good place xx take Care Lesley
Hi Lesley
Hope you’re feeling a bit better now after finishing your chemo and radio. It’s tough going! Sorry to hear you’ve got hearing loss now to deal with-I was lucky and didn’t get that from Cisplatin, but I know it’s a potential side effect from it. It gave me a pulmonary embolism though, so it can have nasty effects.
You might want to add a post in the cervical group too about your brachytherapy-it’s really helpful to others to read experiences about it if it’s coming up for them. Interesting you were able to give yourself reiki!
Sarah xx
