Sarcoma after trauma/injury

I've been referred to the sarcoma clinic after an injury at work where I injured my back/right buttock

had an ultrasound and mri. Going to get the results from consultant on Monday.

Can't believe I have a cancerous lesion at the exact point I injured ?? Very confused. Didn't think trauma caused cancer?

I'm supposed to be going on a cruise on Feb 14th, flying to Gran canaria. Can I fly with no exact diagnosis?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I've had different cancer diagnoses to you I know how confusing everything can be at the start.

The online community is divided into different support groups, so I'm going to recommend that you join either the bone cancer or soft tissue sarcoma group, depending on which type of sarcoma yours is, as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

The best person to answer whether you'll still be able to go on holiday is the consultant that you're seeing on Monday. I guess a lot will depend on whether you're having treatment when you're due to be away. If the consultant says that you can go, don't forget to inform your travel insurer of your diagnosis.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment, after next week's appointment, into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
