Hi there, I was diagnosed September with breast cancer, early operable and was operated on in november, all clear in December, one lump, hadnt spread and lymph nodes biopsy, 3 nodes, all clear.

Am I likely to pay a fortune for travel insurance, im scared to check, booked a cruise and have to sort it, anyone have experience?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I was treated for breast cancer a few years ago. My travel insurance did go up but with each passing year it has been less of an additional premium.

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the travel insurance group so that you'll connect directly with others who have taken out travel insurance since their diagnosis. To join, just click on the link I've created.

Once you've joined take a look through the threads called 'Members recommended travel insurance' and 'Recommended Travel Insurance' as you'll find lots of recommendations for insurance companies that specialise in providing cover for pre-existing medical conditions.

I do hope that you can find insurance that isn't too expensive and that you have a lovely holiday.

  • Hi Clairebear123

Try Insurewith I have used them and so has my sister who has breast cancer. The premiums are reasonable and the cover is good.

  • I suggest you try albert & eddie, they're a comparison site owned by the same company that owns Insurancewith and Holidaysafe which specialise in medical travel insurance. That way you'll get quotes by just entering your details once.

I received quotes from both these and others and under my own circumstances found Holidaysafe to be better cost wise.

If you have any doubts about answering medical questions accurately you can 'phone the selected insurer to make sure if needs be.
