Hi all mum is 81 and other health issues. She has t4 mouth cancer tumour. After 3 diagnosis responses they have decided no chemo no surgery and radiotherapy but 4 weeks. 3 is palliative and 6 too much for her they think every day in London. I’m taking time off to go every day with her. I can do that but I’m worried about the side effects as she progresses and getting her to appts and what she may suffer with and how I cope with that as well or what she may need. Does anyone have any support ideas for her and me and how bad is this going to get. I think that’s what worries me the most once I have to go back to work again thanks all
Hi Cakegirl and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I've had different cancer diagnoses to your mum I know how a cancer diagnosis impacts the whole family.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the head and neck cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as your mum.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your mum's diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Thank you so much for your reply. I’ve joined and added my profile. I hope you’re doing well
