But since then nothing she won’t reply to txts or calls it’s been really hard all over Christmas , I feel so down and alone

  • Hello

i am Brian one of the Community Champions here on the online Community. I am also in the 5th year of my personal prostate cancer journey.

I am so sorry to read your post and I do hope the triple heart bypass has been a success and you are recovering well.

Sadly some people are unable to cope with illness in the family or friends and tend to cut themselves off altogether as their way of dealing with it. I know from personal experience that when i made my cancer diagnosis public to my friends (I had no choice after a Christmas and New Year in hospital) one couple just vanished from our circle of friends - i later found out "they don't do cancer!!".

When a relationship breaks down, sometimes it hard to understand why - it's possible you will never find out but the best thing to do is put this behind you and move forward to the next chapter in your life. Do remember our Support line is there for you on 0808 808 00 00 (8am to 8pm 7 days a week).

The Community is divided up into cancer specific groups - why not come and join us on the Prostate cancer group - here's the link you need:

    Prostate cancer forum

Just click on the link I have provided and once the page opens up, click on "join" on the black banner at the bottom of the page. Once you have joined the group you can introduce yourself in the "New here - Say Hello" section. You will find plenty of support on the group.

    Best wishes - Brian.
