We are struggling with lots of things.  Is there anywhere out there to get help/support. My partners cancer is back already after having part of his bowel removed just 12 months.ago. He’s been struggling for a long time to do anything, and is about to have an 8-12 hour operation to remove All his bowel. He’s sunk into depression.  He can’t manage things anymore.  There’s a few things we need help with.
I have disabilities and can’t drive, I can’t stand for very long and am in constant pain.he will be in hospital for over a week and of course I’m going to visit him everyday, but they’re not sending him to our local hospital( I did request this).  I need help to get to and from the hospital, either transport or help with some funding to get there and back. The first 2 nights I want to stay in a hotel/B and B by the hospital. I’m on a small pension and I can’t afford all this. Family are helping for a few days but can’t do it more than that.
we also need help with our garden, are there any charities that would help us, it’s just way too big.
We also need someone to help with cleaning, Neither of us can use our knees and I really need the kitchen to have a deep clean.  Is there anywhere at all that help people like us. We are in a low income.
Thank you .

  • Good Morning

I am so sorry to read your post - but help is available. Your first port of call should be our Support Line on 0808 808 00 00 (8am to 8pm 7 days a week).

Does your hospital have a "Maggie's"  - link here - Maggie's - this is a cancer centre where you should be able to call in for help and local advice.

Does your hospital have a Macmillan Office - again this is somewhere you can call in for local help and advice.

"Transport Community" is a charity that supports transport in the community and have a directory on their webpage with contact details for local community transport - www.ctauk.org - or 0345 130 6195.

"Age UK" may also be able to help 0800 678 1602 or www.ageuk.org.uk.

I would start off with our support line first and then the local ones for local transport etc.

I hope the above helps and you get the assistance you need.

    Best wishes - brian.
