Hello, I'm new here so posting most tentatively.

My Husband has spinal cancer. He has had radiotherapy but couldn't have an operation due to blood clots in his lungs.

He is now under CUPS, but to be honest nothing is happening. We seem to be passed from pillar to post, test after test and only getting results if we ring up and ask and ask. This has been going on for over a year now and my Husband really doesn't seem to be getting any better, we just lurch from one diagnosis to another.

It's been tough on my Husband as he was always the strong one as I have my own disability and our adopted child has special needs.

The problem is I'm struggling with everything, I feel totally and utterly useless. I do everything I can and more, but I'm exhausted too and I'm just wondering if I'm the only one feeling like I let everyone down. It's not a poor me pity party, I love my Husband dearly but I'm struggling to cope with this massive change of circumstances.

I just wish I know where to turn to and how to get proper help for him.

Thanks for listening

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and it sounds like you and your husband are going through an incredibly tough time.

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you also join the carers only group which is a great place to share any worries and get emotional support from others who are caring for someone with cancer.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

As you said that currently your husband has been diagnosed with CUP you may like to join the unknown primary cancer group where you'll connect directly with others who have the same diagnosis as your husband.

    Sending virtual ((hugs))
