On December 2nd I has my regular diabetes review. Because I wasn't my usmy chest sounds werebual optimistic self, the nurse referred me to a GP as a matter of urgency. The doc referred  me for a chest xray, even though the chest sounds we're clear & heart sounds normal & chest sounds clear. This triggered a CT scan the following day and a consultant  appointment on Tuesday. He said there's a mess of rubbish near one of my lungs, so I'm having an EBUS biopsy tomorrow, brain scan on Monday & a PET scan on Xmas eve.

I'm terrified and finding it difficult to stay strong while we don't have any answers.

Sorry for offloading, but I had nowhere else to do it!

  • No wonder you are anxious.it is really difficult when an almost routine exam accelerates into something alarming. It us especually difficult for you at this time of year when time is pressured. It is unbearable for you to wait even a day. I hope you have someone supporting you meantime.i would keep writing in the forum. I sincerely feel upset for you.

  • Thank you. Yes I have my husband of nearly 38 years supporting me every step of the way. Just as he did for breast cancer 20 years ago, cluster headaches, 2 heart attacks and diabetes (among others)!

It's also my 62nd birthday on Sunday, so i have Lego & luxury yule log to look forward to!

  • I had .y birthday the other day with my two beautiful adult children. Surrounded by love and support. We need it.

  • Hello Heval,

I'm very sorry you are undergoing diagnostic tests, this is the worst possible time for worry and anxiety, made worse by the time of year. There's no need whatsoever to apologise for offloading on here.

It's good that you have the support of your husband but if you need some extra help you can contact Macmillan if you wish. The following link will connect to the relevant page of the website with details of the help available - scroll down to see what's available.

I do hope your tests results turn out to be positive for you.

    Derek.

  • So to update. Had the EBUS on Friday - every time they laid me flat, my O2 levels dropped by 10-15 points! But they did manage to do the biopsy. Then had the brain scan on Monday. Once again I really struggled with breathing & to cap it all, had my first cluster headache attack in 5 years.

Tomorrow Patient Transport are picking us up at 7:40 to go to Wigan for the pet scan. Then rush back to Bolton hospital for appointment with the consultant.

Am just trying to convince myself that I'm not ruining Xmas for hubby & offspring.

If any of you pray, can you send one up for me please, even if it's for strength for the next 24 hours.

    Thank you
