I have a plastic cover for my upper arm that works well to keep my picc dry when taking a shower. However, for days 1 to 3 of my chemo I have a pump attached (you know, the balloon that releases slowly over 40+ hours) and there's a tube from the bag containing it into the pic. Water gets into the picc from the small gap that creates and also gets into the bag carrying the pump.
Anyone have a solution? For the bag I've tried putting it into a freezer bag and using an elastic band but it's not very good. Water still gets in. I have no idea how to protect the picc.
The saving grace here is I can skip shower day 2 and get the dressing changed on day 3 anyway, when the pump is removed.
I haven’t got the right experience myself to give you any advice, but I’d recommend you also post this in the bowel cancer group which you’ve already joined.
You’ll be able to connect there with others who have had the same chemo and faced the same issue with the pump, so it will help widen the audience of people who might be able to help.
I hope you’ll can get a resolution and that your treatment continues well.

Oh OK. I didn't realise that regimen was unique to bowel cancer. I'll do that.
It’s not a regime unique to bowel cancer, that’s true. But this group is a general chat group for people both with and without cancer to discuss varied topics so many people won’t have the right experience to reply.
