Hi, it's been a year since I found out I had stage 1 prostate cancer. I chose active surveillance. My original PSA was 6.2 then about four months later it was 6.7 then a month ago it was 9.8 My doctor called me rather concerned and said he would send the results to the eulogy department at local hospital. I haven't heard anything as yet. Should I be worried about not hearing anything, or is it nothing to worry about.
Thank you
Hi Steve26568cb584 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I just wanted to recommend that you also join and post this question in the prostate cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have had the same cancer as you.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hello Steve (Steve26568cb584 (cf898320c1b142d3a37f39cfa3ef57f9)).
Welcome to the online Community from me too, like latchbrook who has posted the original reply to you I am Brian another of the Community Champions here on the Community and I am in the 4th year of my personal prostate cancer journey.
As Anne has suggested, please do join us on the prostate group where you will find plenty of help and advice.
In the meantime you need to go back to your GP and ask them what's happened to your urology referral as your PSA is rising. (If you have the NHS app you may find details under referrals). A PSA of 9.8 is above that to be expected and shows that some form of intervention is required.
I hope the above helps and look forward to "meeting" you again on the prostate group.
Best wishes - Brian.
