Hi there, hope this doesn't sound silly but should you always keep ontop of your oramorph or just take when you are in pain.. recently diagnosed with stomach cancer...my pain seems to come and go but I'm not sure if I should take it every hour to prevent pain.. thank y
No question is silly but I'm afraid I don't know the answer as I've never been prescribed it.
I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also post this question in the stomach cancer group, which I can see you've joined, as you'll then connect directly with people who are using this painkiller.
You could also speak to your CNS as they will be able to tell you what your prescription is and when you should use it. I realise that they won't be available until tomorrow so you could give NHS111 a call and they should be able to help you.
I hope your pain eases soon.
Hi Chrissy, I use oramorph only when the pain becomes unbearable. If I'm not in pain, I don't take it. I wouldn't take it as a regular thing. Hope this helps.
I hope by now you’ve been able to speak to your CNS or doctor for guidance on this. Each situation is different, and so how you take a prescribed medication will apply specifically to you. I have been prescribed oramorph in the past but was directed on how often to take it and when, so it’s best to take medical advice rather than from what others may have done.
Sarah xx
