A month ago a felt something what felt like a pop in my breast . A month on I have a hard solid lump and breast is dented in I’m so scared

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community

It's natural to be scared when you notice something different about your body. The best thing you can do is make an appointment to see your GP. They will check your breast and, if necessary, refer you to the breast clinic.

It's natural to assume the worst but a lump doesn't necessarily mean cancer. Do pop back and let us know how you get on at the GPs.

    ((hugs))

  • I’m so worried I can’t bring myself to go incase they say it’s terminal and also I’m self employed so want get paid I can’t sleep

  • It's natural to be worried but the only way you'll find out what it is is by going to see your GP.

Not sleeping will make you ill and then you won't be able to work anyway.

As I said in my previous reply, a lump doesn't automatically mean cancer so please do go and see your GP.

  • It could be a cyst that has ruptured, it could be a a benign fibroadenoma - either is more likely than anything worse. But whatever it is the sooner it is identified and treated the sooner you will be sleeping better and able to work. It's natural to be scared but dont let that stop you from seeing a gp.

  • Hi

How did you get on when you spoke to your GP?

  • I've just been through my second or third "urgent" referral for possible cancer. None has been cancer. My husband has been through 2 such referrals and neither has been cancer. The length of time it takes to get answers is really frustrating and worrying but if you've seen your gp and had a 2 week "cancer pathway" referral you should know that the majority turn out to be something  much less worrying. One of my husband's referrals was for a growth that eventually went on its own, one of mine found nothing that needs treating.  If you havent seen your gp yes please go and do so.
