mandy
Hi Mandy,
i was just browsing as Im new here and the big C is revisiting me
i think most people are scared , but folks here all understand that.im just trying to gain information about everything in particular radiotherapy, as that’s was last surprise.
have you been on here a while ? I’m not sure how we find out about each other ,any ideas
Hi Briars, I’m new here too. First diagnosed in July and was looking stage 2 lung tumour but ended up as a rare melanoma. Just found out despite clean surgery, it has metastasised. Looking at immunotherapy according to oncologist. Is radiotherapy your recommended approach? What do you need to know? How have you been dealing with your diagnosis?
If you have any questions about immunotherapy, my husband has gone through a year of it. Xx
Thanks! What was he on? How is he doing? M
Morning greenlife1ca8cb6,,
thank you so much for your reply .
never mind me how are you coping ? I know so little about different cancers , for you is this better or worse , I know that metastasis is a worry , so tell me more , ONLY if you want to.
ive a history of cancer ie breast first about 15 Years ago , then bowel cancer .
and just had a SSC taken of my face near my eye, skin graft done which Im very happy with,
but then told they want to offer me radiotherapy, it was quite a shock ,they said if anything been left it will probably spread .i don’t think I can take any more , but have decided I must face/ find out the facts , but am still awaiting doc letter with the details, I didn’t take it in at the time.and scared stiff it’s the waiting ..
talk again soon ,look after yourself
Ahhh that sounds so challenging. This is all so much and so all consuming it seems its the only thing in life doesnt it? You seem to have come through such a lot. I'm recovering from the initial shock of suddenly being stage 4 and having to undergo immuno so am trying to get back in the driving seat of my mindset and not catastrophise. Just take it one day at a time and accept the waiting without wasting mental energy on things I cant control. Its hard! xxxxx
He was on Pembrolizumab, an infusion every three weeks for a year. He mainly suffered from fatigue. He did also end up with some rheumatoid arthritis in his knee, some teeth & gum pain too. He was able to work through it up until The last three months. He ended up pretty worn down from it and his cortisol dropped very low. So went on steroids which worked well.
he’s just finished his year cycle and we are waiting on ct results
