Hi KathDdb859e and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but so sorry to hear about your sister.
A cancer diagnosis in the family like this can be such a challenging and stressful time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' support challenges can help you a lot.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) so can I recommend you look to join and post in our dedicated…….
……. support group.
This group is a safe place to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from family members who are navigating the same support journey.
As for the practical and emotional challenges of supporting your sister and indeed yourself you may benefit from joining and posting in our……
……. support groups where you will connect with a wide range of members navigating the exact same support challenges.
Thank you all for your advise. I visited the Maggies centre today and they were amazing. Got an ear to listen, a cup of tea and lots of literature on what they had to offer . Support was great too. Ive visited my sister and again just let her know im there for her...even if its to just walk her dog! I know i have to let her be and it will take time for her to process whats happening to her. She will be going into hospital soon again for a feeding tube (as again can't eat or drink)and an oesophagus stretch. Once she feels better i may approach subject of whats on offer at the Maggies and see if she might come along to one of they're therapies or something with me?. In meantime im just trying to go at her pace and just reassuring her i love her and im there for anything she needs. There's power and strength in these kind of support groups. You are all warriors and i thank you all for being there x
