Hello, so my baby was born with a lump on his leg, his had Mri, ultrasound, biopsy and we are on day 18 waiting for biopsy results! I feel his MDT know as theh have an oncologist on the team now. His 5 weeks old now, I just can't imagine him having to go through all this, chemotherapy and surgery. The wait is killing me its like iv missed his whole newborn stage as I'm constantly thinking about it and his spent so much time in hospital. Is the waiting normal? How dose chemotherapy work will he have to spend a lot more time in hospital? I have 3 other children under 10 and my husband works but is having to have leave while all this is going on so finically we are a mess also. I just dont know how to keep going and could really do with some advice. I'm sending love to all of you who are going through this journey xx

  • Hi Harrisonsmum, and a very warm welcome to the forum, though I'm so sorry you find yourself here, and the awful situation you and your lovely family find yourselves. I'm sorry, but like my good friend Jann, and despite having 15 years in healthcare, I'm not able to offer much advice, I know cancer in newborns is very rare, and there are other possibilities for the little fellas lump, which I pray is the case with Harrison, and if not there are some wonderful hospitals, Oncologists, and treatments ready for him, which are  so much easier for baby to cope with IF needed. Please phone the helpline, for advice, and try www.childrenwithcancer.org.uk and www.cancerresearchuk.org, my very best wishes to you all.

    Eddie xx
