Hi everyone
I need some help from you all
I’ve recently won a fundraising award for my “brave the shave” and as well as a lovely trophy I get a donation to allocate to a charity of my choice
I’ve gone a bit rogue though and convinced them to give the money directly to the chemp suite at our local hospital - they can’t take cash though so I’m getting it and I have to buy and give them the items
So I need help knowing what things you think would be great - I want things to help people get through it so what would’ve helped you
I’ve got £750 to spend
I’m definitely buying some of the adaptive hoodies & t-shirts from Primark that I had as it meant they could easily access my port (or a picc line) without you having to take lots of clothes off - I was always cold so this really helped me - I figured they could give them to people who feel the cold and maybe can’t get to a store
What else can I get though - some nice headscarves / turbans / woolly hats, some blankets that people could take each time and they can’t be used by more than one person, picc line covers.
Help me out!!
What a lovely idea Michelle!
Have you spoken to the treatment staff directly, and asked them what they think?
Do they have a staff room where they go for breaks, or a 'wellbeing' room where they go if they need some 'me' time? Perhaps something they could use in those areas? Like a coffee machine, beanbags?
All of your suggestions for the patients sound good! The hoodies and t shirts sound particularly helpful.
Well done for getting the award!!
xxx Kate
