Pain after radiotherapy

I’m new to this group so ‘hello’!

I had vulva cancer which was removed successfully via surgery. There were precancerous cells in my lymph nodes so I’ve had 5 weeks of radiotherapy which I finished 2 weeks ago.

yesterday I noticed a pea sized lump under my skin, it’s very dark red and bleeding slightly this morning. Also when I got up the sole on my right foot was really painful and both my elbows ache… I just wondered if anyone one here has had similar symptoms? You tend to put it down to recovery but never know if it’s something else if you get what I mean!

I will be contacting the doctor first thing tomorrow, such a nightmare when these things happen over the weekend!

  • Hi Helen/ and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I've had different cancer diagnoses to you I know how worrying it is when you find something that concerns you.

The online community is divided into different support groups and I can see that you've already joined and posted in the vulva cancer group which is a great place to connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
