hi I have just been diagnosed with cancer eight weeks ago and I’m really scared. I’ve been told I have uterus cancer I've BB had biopsies, MRIs, CT scan and now I’ve been told I need a CAT scan. I was hoping that the cancer hadn’t spread but now I know it has and I’ve never felt so scared in my life
I'm also anxious about finances and how I’m going to manage. I work as a carer in the community and drive around for 12 hours a day not sure I can keep this up, I can't sleep and my nails look terrible! I told my employer that I would go part-time and my first day back is tomorrow after a bit of time off but feeling really anxious about it. I’m not sure what I would get if I was to finish work, I live alone and there’s only me I can rely on, what to do I really don’t know!
I do try to stay positive, but every time the hospital rings it just gets worse! If anyone has any advice on this or knows what would happen I would really appreciate the help.
Hoping we all have a positive day x
Hi Mazstar522883 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I've had different cancer diagnoses to you I know how scared you're probably feeling right now.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the womb cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When I was diagnosed I'd already retired so working or not wasn't something that affected me. Macmillan have lots of useful resources such as this one on money and work. You can also speak to their advisors on the Support Line by calling 0808 808 0000. It's free to call and they're available 7 days a week from 8am to 6pm.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and any proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
