  1. Hi I am so confused as to whether to do the zolodronic acid infusions. I've had a mastectomy originally her2 negative grade 2 but went to grade 3 her2 positive after my sample was reexamine when the breast was removed. This was such a shock I have just completed 12 palataxil and a further 9 months herceptin. My fear is the necrosis of the jaw. The statistics given is a 1% either way and I want to give myself every chance of survival but worry is it worth it incase I get it. Does anyone else know someone or have it, whats there experience?

Thankyou

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and I've had zoledronic acid (Zometa) following treatment for triple negative breast cancer. In fact, I'm about to have my 6th one tomorrow and haven't experienced any side effects from it.

As you know, the online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group, which is a great place to post your question as you'll then connect directly with others who have had this treatment.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
