Hello,
I'm on treatment and I'm feeling very stiff. I go swimming but my movement is slow and painful at times.
I'm wondering if any sort of stretching classes /yoga classes are a thing specifically targeted with people on treatment... Is this a thing?
I can't find anything local to me.
Thank you
Hi Ded01 welcome to the forum..I'm.unclear from.your post as to what treatment you are having. This is particularly relevant to the swimming. Yes indeed such classes do exist up and down the country usually ran through your local NHS or in your Council area? It might be worth giving the Macmillan Line a call as they may know of classes in various parts of the country that you could tap into..08088080000. Best wishes Gail
Hi Ded01
You could check with your local leisure centre - the leisure centres near where I live run a programme called the ‘Cancer Exercise Rehabilitation Programme’ which says it can be joined from diagnosis onwards (so I assume it’s suitable while on treatment like you are looking for). The programme is run by specially trained instructors and can be individual or group sessions depending on what kind of exercise you want/need. I haven’t tried the programme myself but I came across it online. Referral to the programme can be made by Cancer Specialist Nurses, GPs or Macmillan so if you call the Macmillan line as suggested by GRANNY59 then hopefully they’ll be able to check if the programme is available in your area.
Hope you find something suitable.
Louise
