Hi, I started my first chemo last Thursday and developed a urinary infection. I am managing all the side effects from the medications pretty well, but the bladder pain and kidney pain were not on my list. I was advised to call my GP today, on the 6th day after the chemo, and was asked to give a urine sample later today. Has someone experienced this issue? I mean, I have had cystitis almost every year, and I was treated with antibiotics. I don't doubt that my doctors will do the best to help me, but I am not sure if this will affect my chemo in some way. Please, share if you have had some experience with this. Thank you all!
Hi NK9 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I had chemo as part of my treatment for breast cancer. Fortunately I didn't suffer with cystitis while having chemo so don't have any relevant experience to share.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group, which is a great place to ask your question, share experiences and get support.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi Anne, I joined the Breast Cancer group today, and I will share my experience there. xxx
Hopefully there'll be someone there who has experienced similar to you.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
