It's a long story but I have had intermittent abdominal pain and other issues since last Easter and which became permanent last November.
In summary I ended up in A&E after my doctor doing nothing and from there had an urgent CT scan 'neck to knees' a week ago.
I didn't hear anything back, but phoned the hospital spoke to a lovely lady today who said 'your report has come back and been seen by the surgeons. There is a lot on there and I can't tell you what it says' I told her I did not expect her to tell me, I just wanted info on what was happening.
She then told me 'The surgeons are planning what to do'. I asked when they were likely to tell me what they were planning and see said 'it will be sometime next week someone will get in touch with you.'
I am relieved that whatever is wrong with me is being looked at, but bemused whether she is referring to an MDT without a biopsy? Someone planning to do a biopsy which requires surgery? Or if they have picked up something totally unrelated.
Like I say I am happy it is being looked into but don't have a clue what she was referring to. Anyone have any thoughts on this please?
Hi,
Just to say that I am sending support to you. The waiting for results is difficult for everyone.
My experience was a little different than yours. I was picked up through a routine bowel cancer screening test. A colonoscopy followed and an urgent biopsy was organised. I was given a specialist nurse who contacted me within a few days of the colonoscopy. She kept me informed which was helpful. My CAT scan was arranged whilst they were waiting for the biopsy results. When both results were in, a MDT meeting discussed the results and I had a meeting with the lead surgeon.
It seems strange that you have not been contacted by someone. Hopefully you will get some information soon. What about contacting your GP now?
This forum is very supportive. Take care and good luck with your results. X
Need to hunt down the GP tomorrow, total radio silence. I contacted the hospital today and was told I am now under a colo-rectal surgeon and my CT results are being discussed at an MDT meeting this week and I will know more next week after the meeting. I still have not been told a diagnosis yet but was told the colonoscopy was clear and the biopsy samples they took were taken at random.
