My partner had a successful or so they thought tumour removal  whole waiting for mop up chemo it was discovered that some cells were missed  so had full blown chem with great results and a clear pet scan  however within weeks it recurred now he is waiting on targeted therapy which they have high hopes for however he’s in pain and says don’t sleep at night so sleeps all day he is also reluctant to eat proper meals just don’t feel like it  he can’t take morphine or codeine as both cause severe side effects I’m at my wits end both of us are depressed and I am so anxious I feel like I might explode.

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read that your partner's cancer has returned and I can understand why you're both feeling anxious and depressed. have you both spoken to your GP to get help with these feelings?

The online community is divided into different support groups, so to get the best support, it would be best to post in the group relating to your partner's cancer. If you let me know what type of cancer he has I can give you a direct link to that group, or you could take a look through this list to choose the appropriate group.

Once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

A group that I think you'd benefit from joining is the carers only group where you'll connect directly with others who are looking after a loved one with cancer. It's a safe and supportive place to discuss your worries and emotions.

It would be great if you could put something about your partner's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
