Cooling Cap Recommendations

Can anyone recommend a cooling cap? I spoke to a Macmillan nurse and she said some hospitals have this available. Has anyone experienced the NHS cooling caps? Were they effective? Has anyone brought in their own cooling cap to an NHS setting and was it easy to use and was it effective?

I haven't got long and I really want to make a decision based on feedback on like a forum instead of product reviews online.

  • Hello

I haven't had the experience of a "cold cap" but a do remember reading a cracking article about it - here's the link:

The Changing Faces of Cancer- Scalp cooling, Hair loss and Regrowth.

I do hope you find this link helps.

I am sure others will be along with some further help.

    Best wishes - Beian.

  • Hi MezKez, and welcome, my only experience is with my daughter, and her experience wasn't very good, it extended her treatment time by 90 minutes, and even taking paracetamol well before treatment, always got a headache, sometimes a pretty bad one, and all to no avail, she lost nearly all her hair, My daughter is going through it again due to a recurrence, and is just going to see what happens this time, PS, her hair grew back thicker than before and quite quickly.

Just to add to Brian, Millibob's post, Macmillan's Information and Support page has lots of advice too, just type in, scalp cooling. My very best wishes with your treatment.
