Hello I know this chat will always be hard I lost my mum to stage 4 brain cancer 7 years ago. I feel it every day I lost her very quick my kids didn't understand and trying to shield them was so hard. But not to sound selfish watching her die destroyed me and I struggle to talk or accept it. I've not gone to talk to someone. Be nice to talk to someone here thank you.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but so sorry to hear about your mum and the challenges you are dealing with.

Although I have lost both my parents, my mum just 4 years back (but not from cancer) I have been able to move on….. but continue to hold the memories dearly.

Let’s see if anyone with a similar journey picks up on your post…. but can I also suggests that you join and put up the same post in our dedicated….

Bereaved Family and Friends Support Group.

……. where you will connect with a wide range of members navigating the exact same journey.

The Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… (although these times may be different over the holiday period) this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support or just a listening ear.

Talking to people ‘face to face’ can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.

Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community.

  • Hello

A warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community, though I am so sorry to find you here in these circumstances. I am Brian one of the Community Champions here.

The Community is divided up into various cancer specific support groups and I would advise you to join the Glioblastoma group where you will meet Community members on the same or similar journey. Here's the link:-
