Hi...My father was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer December 2023 which had spread to multiple places. He was expected to pass away before Christmas but has surpassed that but is suffering massively. 10 days ago he was admitted to a local hospice as he had deteriorated and was experiencing quite severe agitation and attempting to do unsafe things at home.My father left his home where he has lived for almost 80 years. He gradually came to terms with the fact that he would pass away at the hospice not at home. Now the hospice are telling us he is stable while also telling us he has 2 months max left. Therefore they say he needs to be moved somewhere else..ie a care home. We are in total shock...any advice or experience shared is very welcome.

  • Hello   A warm welcome to the online cancer community. I am so sorry to read about your father - it's such a sad time for you both. I can't answer your question myself but:

The Community is divided up into various forums or "chat rooms" and I would advise you to join the ones where you will find the best support for you and dad. The links to these are here:

Carers only forum :  Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum  : Prostate cancer forum

Once you click on a link and the page opens up , just click join on the black banner at the bottom of the page and then you can either re-post your question or copy and paste it.

I do hope you find some answers and wish you and dad all the vey best at this time.

If I can do anything else for you please let me know.

    Kind Regards - Brian
