My husband recently visited gp with suspicious looking freckle on temple. The gp suspicious of basal cell carcinoma but said nothing to be overly worried about. Said would refer to dermatology for analysis. Having chased up this appointment I have been informed its been put as routine and we could be waiting 4weeks. If I can see a private dermatology would this help get him seen sooner.
Hi Redwine40 and welcome to the community.
Sorry to read about the challenges you and your husband are dealing with. I have lived with and been treated for a rare skin Lymphoma for over 24 years so I understand the challenges of dealing with Dermatology rather well - these departments are always very busy.
Seeing a private Dermatologist would indeed speed things up to a certain degree but cases are then often referred back to the NHS for treatment.
