My mum has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer following a stage 4 bowel cancer diagnosis. The bowel cancer has been removed previously and a stoma has been put into place. The bowel cancer has metosized into the vagina where after months of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, it did not shrink enough for a full pelvic exenteration and the doctors are not happy to do this surgery as they feel as my mum copes through surgery. Up to now my mum has 4 microscopic lumps around her stoma area, 1 by her pelvic and one 3cm and 4cm lumps in her vagina, which has caused the palliative care treatment. The only options given to my mum are chemotherapy, however she is only 56 and wants to live her life now. In order to do that i would love to hear some advice around supplements and things that people find beneficial to create a more plant or herbal medicine. Things that i have already fought are: Tumeric, probiotics, prebiotics, COQ10, chlorophyll, organic spirulina powder, organic wheat grass powder, penoxal, broccoli sprout, super strength omega 3 fish oil, organic black seed oil, turkey tail, beta-carotene, magnesium and multi vitamins. As well incorporating juices, smoothies and a lot of fruit and veg and green tea, ginger tea, lemon tea and tumeric tea. (Hope this can help others too).
My questions to you guys is does anyone else have any options out there that you have fought around what we can do next to support my mum to get her through what time she has left to live as comfortably and healthily as she can. Even if anyone has any options for treatment plans too or ANYTHING that can help us as a family it would be really helpful. My mum is based at ROYAL STOKE HOSPTIAL, if anyone is experiencing the same type of cancer or ANYTHING discussions around this to help eachother are helpful too for the both.
Thank you reading, hope to hear off people soon!
Hello Liagrace114. welcome to the community I am so sorry to hear about your mum, i also have bowl cancer and am terminal. I see you are a member of the bowl cancer forum is which a good place to be. I have not tried most of the supplements you mentioned but i am very careful about what i eat. Lia i eat lots of fruit, veg, pulses, fish and fibre they are 90% of what i eat and i also have 5 or 6 meals a day but much smaller portions and try to avoid sugar and fat, but have an occasional treat. As you say your mum wants to live her life now and i can fully understand her wishes. I can tell you love your mum and that is the most important thing as you care for her, please take bare
Hi, I'm sorry about your mum. My dad was diagnosed with terminal skin cancer and its spread to his lymphnodes. We only found out yesterday. I've been trying to give him green tea and graviola (soursop) I've been trying to research everything i can because I feel helpless. What you've posted I've just bought so thank you for that. Take care
