Hi Jo65 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your mouth is very sore since you've started chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Have you spoken to the chemo nurses as they can usually recommend things to try?

The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you also join and post in a group related to your type of cancer as that will give you the chance to connect directly with others who may have had the same experience.

When you feel up to it, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. Hello Jo65.. I had a really sore mouth/gums during my treatment.  I spoke to the chemo nurses & also my dentist.  The dentist advised to use a child’s strawberry toothpaste (took a while to get used to) and a child’s soft toothbrush.  If that was too harsh then to gently rub with a soft cloth with a bit of the child’s toothpaste.  I was also prescribed a mouthwash by my oncologist.  Tasted vile and I couldn’t use it.  The soreness will subside once the treatment has finished.  I hope you find relief soon.  Take care.
