My wife has stage 4 secondary breast cancer and on 2nd round of chemo. She was getting a bit breathless and has just spent 2 nights on hospital, had a CT scan and discovered multiple clots in both lungs. Now on blood thinners. Is this the chem or the cancer.
Really worried about her as seams to be another thing to deal with, it's dragging her down.
Thanks
Hi Bigmac
I’m sorry to read about your wife. I had a pulmonary embolism 4 years ago whilst on treatment and it was described on my notes as a “chemo induced pulmonary embolism”. I spent the night in hospital and it was discovered on a scan-however, that is only my own personal experience. I had blood thinning injections for a month, and then was on oral medication for a further 5 months with no further issues.
It would be best to check with your wife’s treating team to get further information specifically relating to your wife’s situation and hopefully they will be able to explain more for you.
Sarah xx
