My grandad has been slowly deteriorating over the last couple of years however since the beginning of this year, when his treatment was stopped, this has become more rapid. He is currently on a high steroid dose which I think is masking lots of symptoms & this is slowly being decreased over the coming months. I understand the effect this will have on him but my worry is that he is currently fighting the deterioration. He is upset and frightened about what’s happening & doesn’t feel like he can leave us. I want to tell him that he doesn’t need to worry about us and that it will be okay. But I don’t know how. I am so proud of him and I don’t want him to feel like this towards the end.
Hi Alou and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read about your grandad and it must be an extremely difficult time for the whole family.
I can see that you've already found and joined the supporting someone with incurable cancer group and that would be the best place to connect with others in a similar position to yourself, to ask how they've had difficult conversations with relatives and also to share your emotions and get support.
Sending (((hugs)))
