any advice on coping with ureteric stent?

Hello. I was fitted with a uretal Stent for the same reason as you. I experienced some initial discomfort twitches of pain. I also was advised to drink plenty of water to clear any bleeding. The Stent can irritate the lining of the bladder and the kidney. This is what causes the appearance of blood in the urine. If you pass blood clots you need to contact the hospital. I found there was more blood if I did heavy lifting or was more active. You might find lying on the opposite side from Stent helps. But the major thing is drink lots of water. This flushes out blood. You will visit loo more often but it's to be expected. The pink wee will get less. Hope this helps. Xx
