Hi everyone,

My husband is having a RIG feeding tube fitted on the 10th January. Can anyone please tell me their experiences of having it done, how they managed it? Thank you

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

You haven't said what type of cancer your husband is being treated for, but I can see that you've replied to a post in the head and neck cancer group. If it is a cancer that comes under head and neck could I suggest that you join that group and post your question there as you're more likely to connect with others there who will be able to share their experiences with having a RIG feeding tube fitted.

To join just click on the link I've created which will take you directly there. You can then join and start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

If I'm wrong about the group, then you could have a look through this list and choose the one that is appropriate for your husband.

It would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
