Hi
So a few months ago I started feeling changed in my self, I'm a self employed joiner by trade. I was going to the toilet alot more with loose stools and tired
The gp referred me to heamotogly who I've been under since. They did an ultra sound which came back with an enlarged spleen, but bloods fine.
Things changed for me the last 2 months or so, with extreme tiredness, night sweats, toilet 5 6 times a day with loose stooles, feeling constantly freezing cold and stugglung to do what i use to do at work amongst other things. I had a telephone consultation with a lady consultant and she said we need to do a bone marrow test and biopsy and pet scan to test for a type of lymphoma.
My results have come back for the bone marrow and that is fine. Liver function is oddmormal and I have high billiruebn levels but that's it apart from my symptoms, I go for my pet scan next week.
My consultant from day one when I have face to face appointments is very much slap dash and crash can't ask any questions etc.
Has anybody had a similar storey and ended in a C diagnosis.
I'm absolutely petrified of it I lost my dad to cancer February 21 he died from two tumours in his head, and they missed that for a while.
Am I being silly or am I right to worry ?
My friends and family say I should stop stressing but I just can't help it with all my changes
Hi TommyJ and I see it’s your first post a warm welcome to this corner of the Community although I am always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.
I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Low Grade NHL eventually reaching Stage 4a so I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well but be encouraged as I am still here doing great.
The process of Diagnosis of Lymphoma can be long and complicated. Even although my consultant was 99% sure as to the type of Lymphoma I had it took a full year, a few CTs and 6 biopsies to find the truth.
You do need to try and insist on being heard at appointments as it’s the only way to control the noise between your ears.
This link Questions to ask your medical team about Lymphoma is what you need to be getting answers for so the next time you are at your appointment you sit with your arms crossed and don’t move until you have answers.
Always around to chat and help.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
