My first time on forum. I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in March and had a tumour removed in June. The biopsy showed a couple of lymph nodes had potential for cancer to return. I started chemotherapy in August. I had one oxaliplatin treatment intravenously and fourteen days of capecitabine tablets. After the first round of treatment I started getting pains in my legs I was unable to sleep. The chemotherapy was suspended and after several days in hospital and many tests, nerve damage was confirmed. I now have constant tingling in my feet and unable to put any weight on the soles of my feet. I struggle to walk around the house. The oxaliplatin was stopped and the tablet form is now continuing. Has anybody else experienced these symptoms and how did you deal with it. I’m due to see neurologist but hospital waiting times are horrendous. Hope someone may be able to help.

Hi Phil and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm really sorry to read about the side effects that chemotherapy has caused you and I can totally understand why you want to see someone as soon as possible.
As you know, the online community is divided up into different support groups so I hope you don't mind me recommending that you also join and post in the bowel cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have had the same treatment and possible side effects as you.
To join just click on the link I've created which will take you directly there. You can then join and start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
